The schedule below is a working draft; sessions may be added/removed or reassigned to different days and/or time slots. We will provide notification once the final schedule is published.
Students who struggle with Volume will love this! The primary topic is the volume of rectangular pyramids as it relates to rectangular prisms. Participants will be given templates for creating 3 joined rectangular pyramids that, when folded together, create 1 rectangular prism. It is a tactile, kinesthetic visual to model this relationship and explains why the Volume formula for rectangular pyramids divides by 3. The primary audience is 7th grade math teachers, 6th grade advanced math teachers, and can provide scaffolded discovery for 7th advanced math or 8th grade math teachers, as applied to the cylinder - cone relationship.
