UTeach Maker is an endorsement program at The University of Texas at Austin that supports passionate students who are interested in bringing innovative practices and skills into their STEM classroom. This program focuses on bringing project-based, constructivist, and maker education to learning spaces with the goal of inspiring and empower students through Making. This session will explain the philosophy behind maker education and share progress from the first year of the UTeach Maker program. Passionate K-12 maker educators provide mentorship for students enrolled in this selective program as they develop their own Maker Showcase portfolio. By attending this session you will learn more about emerging trends in pre-service teacher education and about alternative methods of engaging in STEM education. This session is intended for those educators interested in emerging trends in teacher education and how hands-on learning can be integrated in STEM.
