Code.org has developed a free curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing. The courses blend online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with “unplugged” activities that require no computer at all. Each course consists of about 20 lessons. Even kindergarten-aged pre-readers can participate. The workshop will prepare you to teach the Code Studio courses for grades K-8. All lessons align to all relevant computer science standards, as well as to the ISTE standards. They additionally reinforce concepts and skills taught in other subject areas by integrating national Math, English Language Arts, and Science standards and Code.org’s Curriculum philosophy. Workshop attendees will receive a Code.org swag bag, PD certificate and printed curriculum guide containing course lesson plans. You will also have the opportunity to order classroom supplies for the unplugged activities. Please remember to bring your own device as well as a charger. Preregistration required.
