Another Slice of Pi – Hands-On with the Raspberry Pi Computer

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

The Raspberry Pi (RPi) is a small, $40 computer that has sparked the imaginations of 13 million students, teachers, and hobbyists worldwide. This hands-on session will introduce secondary teachers to the joy of math and science applications for the Raspberry Pi using the beginner-friendly Python language. After a brief tour of the RPi and some coding basics, we’ll work through lessons to create custom polygons and a weather station. Student-programmed demonstrations will include robots, LED matrices, and a motion-triggered Tweetbot (for catching the class snake shedding its skin- in Python, of course). Participants, particulary new coders, will experience first-hand that coding can be learned in a problem-based setting alongside math and science core content, and not just in a separate “computer” class.
Even the International Space Station has 2 Raspberry Pis on board – your classroom is next!
